Access and Inclusion
A Very Welly Christmas
A Very Welly Christmas is a free two-day event for everyone to enjoy, happening in the heart of Wellington, along and around Lambton Quay!
Lambton Quay is closed to traffic during the festival, so everyone has free range of the roads and footpaths. The area will be fully accessible for all, but the festival can get busy so it could be slow moving at points particularly when Santa arrives at 12 midday on both days.
Transport information includes mobility parking, taxi stands and public transport details:
Clifton Car Park on The Terrace has easy access to Lambton Quay and has a weekend parking special running this summer.
The first two hours of parking are free on weekends, after that it’s $2 per hour with a maximum of $6 per day.
Carols in Midland Park on Saturday 28 November 5pm-7pm will include a NZSL interpreter.
Printed song sheets are also available in Midland Park as people arrive.
Accessible toilets can be found at:
- Grey street public toilets
- Brandon street
- Te Awe Library on Brandon Street
Our parents’ room at Te Awe Library on Brandon Street has nappy-changing and bottle-heating facilities, a breast-feeding chair, and sink.
A Very Welly Christmas is a street festival experience designed to move through – but the main stage at Midland Park provides some seating and has an elevated stage to assist with viewing.
The very nature of A Very Welly Christmas means it is vibrant, action-packed festival. This includes sirens from emergency vehicles which kids can climb right into at the Whitmore street end of Lambton Quay if required, Te Awe Library provides a quite space.
